My hero of the day is the inventor of the water pump.
Why you might ask?
Have you ever tried to run your household with no running water? It is not a challenge I would wish on anyone, but we got to experience it this weekend. Of course, the water stopped pumping about 10 pm Friday night - with no warning signs - leaving us the weekend to wait for the repair company to be able to come out.
I went to get ready for bed Friday night and had no water in my bathroom sink. My first thought was Kieran had turned off that faucet because I had been complaining that afternoon about the sink draining so very slow. But, alas, there was no water in any other faucet either. I soon found the dishwasher I had just started was running without water as well. And shortly after that we unplugged the water heater so it wasn't running empty either.
So, after checking the obvious and simple of fuses and breakers, we settled in to using water from 5 gal buckets and Uncle Ben's house for the weekend.
Besides the challenges of flushing toilets and the pain of heating water to wash dishes we got thru the weekend. And of course, you remember I started the dishwasher...........meaning I had a full load of dirty dishes. Thank heaven for paper plates and spoons.
The repair place came out this morning and was able to find a wire they tightened and re-taped and everything started working again. The wire apparently had a bit of slack in it and has disconnected somewhere and their playing with it fixed it for the time being. They said it could now work for the next 2 hours, 2 days, 2 months or 2 years. So, I am praying it lasts till a better time to be replacing wires and a well pump. But, I am very thankful to have running water again!
Here is Caeden this morning out on the deck - apparently the little dusting of snow we got was worthy of snow boots and pushing around with a stick, but not too much to be able to still ride our bike around a bit. It's all melted now.
And a couple of the boys yesterday - didn't get any too good as Caeden was too busy teaching Colm to touch and pull the sheet behind them - Colm seems to be a quick learner.....................
