Handsome fellows

Oh so handsome!
The eggs are fun to play with!

Look, ma - Da taught me how to do this.........

You can see we have a little snow around - there was actually a fair amount this morning, a good dusting but it was melting quickly!

It's much more fun to check out the snow then take pictures - but you can see Colm is doing pretty good at standing with help these days!

The Risen Christ, Our Hope

As I was thinking about Easter and this time we have to remember Christ, crucified and buried, yet alive today I was reminded of these verses-

"......And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. but now, Christ is risen from the dead!......" 1 Corinthians 15:17-20

We do have hope. There is a hope and future for all who believe in Christ and the fact that he did die for our sins, was dead and buried and is now alive!

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotton us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you." 1Peter 1:3-4

I am so thankful for the precious gift of salvation and ability to believe and have this hope.

I have been listening this week to John MacArthur's current series, which is as usual, excellent - if you have some free time this is a wonderful perspective on Easter
Easter - Through the Eyes of God
(right now it is showing on the Grace to You website homepage as the current radio series, but if it moves next week, just search recent radio broadcasts and it should be listed!)

Happy Resurrection Day to each of you!

"I'm just looking mom, not trying to climb up here or anything......."
Warming up by the fire after being outside

Snow!

We woke to snow this morning. Caeden went out and had fun pushing the shovel around.

Then I took Colm out too and they sat in the snow talking together

Caeden was explaining to Colm what you can do in the snow.......

Then it was getting cold, so we went in and watching Caeden from inside.

Baked Oatmeal

Here's our new favorite breakfast dish - it is so yummy and I don't even like oatmeal :-)
You can make this the night before and stick it in the refrigerator till morning. And leftovers warm nicely in the microwave the next day.

Here's the original recipe:
Baked Oatmeal
1 cup oil (can substitute butter or applesauce)
1 1/2 cups sugar (can reduce)
4 eggs
6 cups oats
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cups milk

Combine all ingredients in order listed. Pour into greased 9x13" pan. Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes until lightly browned. Can refrigerate overnight before baking. Serve topped with butter, brown sugar and milk.
Yields: Approximately 12 servings

Recipe from the "money saving mom" website

And here's how I have been making it, I have been making 1/2 a recipe at a time:

Baked Oatmeal
1/2 cup applesauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
3 cups oats
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup milk

Combine all ingredients (I usually do dry first and then wet so I can dirty the least amount of dishes!). Mix well and pour into a 8" square baking dish. I often drizzle molasses over the top before baking. Bake 375 for 30 minutes. Serve warm. You can drizzle more molasses over the top before serving.
Yields: 6 servings

I meant to take a picture of the finished product this morning but I forgot and now it's all gone! So, here's a picture of Caeden playing with his new barrel of monkeys!

One Year Ago

A precious little gift from heaven arrived on March 5, 2007

Colm Michael joined our family weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 inches long. What a precious baby he has been and such a joy to our lives.

He is now almost 18 pounds with a ready smile and such a cheerful little boy.

Happy Birthday dear Colm!
We love you and are so glad you are a part of our lives!

And oh what fun brothers have together.
(Anymore they are far too busy playing with each other for me to get good pictures!)

Random pictures

Colm is quite the crawling machine these days!

Caeden - please note his white tee-shirt - this has become the only acceptable shirt to wear lately since daddy usually wears a white tee shirt to work in, Caeden has followed suit.

Caeden sleeping on the living room floor the day he was sick last week - he got up at 4:30 and crashed watching a movie around 6:30.
