pictures with Great-Grandma

Aunt Jamie brought my grandma down for Trevor's graduation celebration over the weekend and we got to visit with them for the evening. It was fun and Grandma enjoyed being able to see the kids.

10 months

All 3 - at 10 months of age

(Colm, Caeden and Alannah)
Personally I am seeing less of a resemblance in all of them the older they get, I guess their personalities shine through! I know they look like siblings, but that is about it in my opinion!

Can you imagine the "audio" with this picture? Yep, about as loud as it sounds......... Alannah is very proud of being able to do something just like the boys, can you see the excitement on her face?

A few other random pictures of all 3 - at 10 months of age............ just cause they are cute!

precious girl

10 months old!

Alannah is........
~crawling everywhere
~pulling herself standing occasionally, but will stand against anything with help
~still napping twice a day, usually a good 2 hours both naps
~loving her voice and is often chatting, babbling, screaming or making some other form of noise
~proudly sporting one tooth
~15 pounds, 3 ounces
~wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes and 9 month dresses
~enjoying just about any food I give her - pumpkin and spinach are new favorites
~picking up any minutia of anything off my floor
~crawling to me to be picked up when she is done on the floor instead of just crying

We love you princess girl!

this morning

the boys were so excited.................

they just had to run outside............

I know, they don't have hats or jackets on.................
they were just so excited......... and they were truly only outside for like 3 minutes!

Caeden said this was his favorite picture so I included it - you can kinda see his bruised head, it's looking much better!

thankful

So, thankful this week.............
We were T-boned at an intersection Friday afternoon,
we were making a left- the other car was going straight.
We are all okay, no serious injuries.
Caeden got a pretty good goose-egg on his temple from the carseat, but he was checked out at the scene and ER and is fine. It's looking much better every day since, and the bruising isn't even spreading around like they said it might. My knee and shoulder felt pretty achy and sore, but are feeling much better even today. Colm and Alannah are fine, Colm was very concerned and upset when he realized his window had broken, but it really just broken further back and all the glass went into the back of the car.
The Suburban is actually still drivable - that broken window is going to get some plywood today and the one door is obviously never going to open again, but other then that........... as Kieran said, "That's why we drive a Suburban".
Kieran drove it home and says the front end is better aligned then it was before and that sticky passenger side front door that never was shutting right, shuts great now :-)
We will hopefully be able to replace or repair it further in the near future. But bottom-line, we are just grateful we are all okay and it wasn't any worse.

Mom and Trevor came over and Mom and I took the Caeden (and Colm & Alannah) to the ER to be checked, so thankful she as able to go with me. Spending 3 hours at the ER on a Friday evening, over the dinner hour and bedtimes........... well, I was thankful for the extra set of hands!

Caeden got a "cool" bracelet from the hospital
- (you know, one of those one time use paper bracelets so they make sure they get all your charges billed to you :-) Strangely though, I didn't get one, I think this is the first time I have been in with a child and wasn't tagged as well so they know who the parent is!)
Colm really wanted one too. We tried to explain to him that just Caeden was getting one this time. A little while later though Caeden was checking out his bracelet again and Grammie mentioned that these bracelets were only for the patients, not everyone got them. A couple minutes later Colm climbed onto the bed with Caeden and said, "I'm being so patient". We both told him he was, he was being so good and not getting into trouble and yes, he was being patient while we waited for the doctor. He then replied, "Do I get a bracelet too since I am patient?" - Oh my...... how do you explain 2 so-very-different meanings for the same word to a two year old? Well, you are being patient but you aren't A patient......... does that make sense Colm? Yeah, didn't think so.
We made "hospital bracelets" at home this morning, so everyone could have one.

Thoughts from Caeden on the way home from the hospital

(I stopped at Target and got some bananas and cheese sticks to eat on the way home since it was 9 pm and we hadn't had dinner)
C: "I don't want the rest of my banana"
Me: "That's fine, you don't have to eat it. Set it next to you or see if Colm wants to eat it."
C: "Mom, when you bump your head, you can't eat bananas, you just have to break off little pieces and give the pieces to your brother, you can't eat them."
Me: "okay, whatever. Banana's are good for you, but if you don't want it, you don't have to eat it right now"
(please keep in mind with all my answers, it IS 9 PM at night and it's been a really long afternoon and I am tired and really wishing they would just fall asleep...........)

C: "Mama, why does it take so long at the hospital? It's dark out now."
Me: "Well, the hospital just takes a long time, they don't always move so fast, and things just take time."
C: "Well, IF I WAS A DOCTOR, I would RUN from room to room and get everyone taken care of and it wouldn't take so long."

C: "Mama, when you took Colm to the bathroom, the doctor came in our room and whispered in my ear and told me that with this bump on my head, I could only eat crunchy foods."
Me: "Like what kinds of crunchy foods are you thinking?"
C: "Oh, things like nuts and chips. Just crunchy things, that's all I can have. Can I have some chips when we get home?"

After we got home, I changed and was nursing Alannah, the boys and Kieran were heading to the living room and I hear Kieran get chips down and open the bag. Caeden said "Well, if we've got the chips out we might as well turn on a movie.........."

September 14

We "officially" started school today. I am doing preschool with the boys. We are doing about an hour at the table of Bible reading, prayer, story, coloring and then I am doing some learn to read books with Caeden. We are taking a letter a week for our Bible Story person and a verse to memorize. Caeden especially was thrilled this morning when I told him we were starting school since we had been talking about it for a couple weeks now. I'm looking forward to some structured learning time with them and I will try and get some pictures during school time this week (I didn't have the camera at home this morning!)

But, we went out and took some pictures of the kids at noontime to record that first day of school smile!

(she's clapping her hands - another new trick!)

milestones

See that smile? There's a tooth in it now!
Finally........... September 10, 2009.......... at 9 months, 2 weeks and 1 day old the little girl has a tooth poking thru! (it's the bottom, front right tooth in case you were wondering)

Do you see our other great milestone this week?

Yep, she's pulling herself up to a standing position. She's only done it a couple times but I think she's gonna enjoy this new vantage point and start using it often :-)

the little girl

I hope you don't tire of pictures of this girl! I've been taking quite a few over the last couple weeks hoping to catch a perfect one for her "9 month" picture. And since this is one of my favorite outfits, I stuck her in it again today and took some more! I'll post my favorites and enhanced ones tomorrow, so check back.
