 Yep, finished Torin's stocking on the 23rd! 

 Torin and the Christmas Bears.... they all have years on their foot and each of the kids has a bear for the year they were born.

Torin - 1 month

 It's hard to believe Torin is one month old today..... he is such a sweet baby, so handsome and easy going. He has such expressive eyes and loves to look around. I know, he's probably thinking 'this place is crazy', but he is well loved and hugged and kissed often. He is sleeping good, nursing good. Weighs right at 8 pounds now. Still in newborn sizes in outfits and diapers. He is usually giving me a good 4-6 hour stretch of sleep at night, which is nice, though often interrupted for me by another sibling - or two ;-).

    "As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious....... a chief cornerstone chosen and precious.........But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

I was reading this passage a couple weeks ago and it has lingered in my mind over the last few weeks primarily because of some of the words in it..... the name we have for the coming baby is Torin Pierce. Torin is a gaelic word for chief and Pierce is a form of the name Peter, meaning rock. As I read the above passage the phrase "chief cornerstone" stood out to me. While I know it is referring to Christ as the cornerstone, the verses around it talk about us. We as God's people are chosen and precious, a people of His own, a people called to proclaim his excellencies, recipients of his mercy.

This morning I read this post from Raising Homemakers and was struck that what she wrote I could say as well.... it echoed much of what I feel and would want to say to my child. You are chosen, you are precious, you are wanted, you are important and have important things to do in this world. Torin will be our 6th child here, in today's world, there aren't too many 6th born children ;-) and I know God has a plan for each child He gives, whether a firstborn or a 6th born, each life is precious and has purpose.

And so, little Torin, our "chief, rock", you are chosen and precious to God and to us and we are thankful to have you in our lives and cannot wait to meet you - hopefully really soon! 

And just for the record, I finished his blanket last night, probably the latest I have finished any ;-) but it's done now, so you can come!

she LOVES driving the boys cars around, so now she has her very own pink one!

Sweet little A, how are you a year old already? You are such a sweetheart. With a ready smile and happy face. You love to kiss and hug and cuddle. You nod 'yes' and 'no' in the cutest way. You are pulling up and standing and walking along everything - and have been for a couple months. Still not quite standing on your own or attempting to walk solo yet. My guess is another month or so. 

You climb up steps well and quick. You haven't attempted down at all, except for the one time you fell, now you are perfectly happy to stay away from too closet to the edge and you haven't fallen since!

You are quite the talker. So many times I will say something to you and it sounds just like you answer me with an appropriate answer or sound. You have many 'words', though much beyond 'Da' are more sounds then anything. Some words I think you have mimicked us saying are: bath, diaper, yes, okay, go, bottle, milk...... and so many more.

You are still napping twice a day, an hour-two in the morning and a good hour and a half in the afternoon. You are sleeping about 7-7 overnight and we have recently given up any and all night bottles, besides one as you go to bed. We also took the paci away (from everyone at the same time!) but you are doing fine without it. Your other siblings miss it more ;-)

You are still getting around 4 bottles a day, that you love. And you are pretty much eating whatever we are eating, unless it's too spicy, then it's whatever I can find! I think concentrated quantities of nuts is about the only thing you haven't had much of, everything else you love and eat. You especially love bananas and cheese. 

You are much loved by all your brothers and sister. They play pretty well with you and you love trying to keep up with them.

This is her hair at 1 year..... what do you think.... curls coming in? Any chance of a little red-hair? It's still pretty light, I see a little red every now and then, but it'll probably be blond, my guess is blonder then Alannah. And Alannah was well past a year before we knew she had curls.... so we'll see!

Happy 2nd birthday 

Tadhg Conor!

You are such a sweet little boy..... talking a mile a minute.... and have many real words and very understandable...... you love chocolate and treats and snacks..... you say milk and water very clearly though your "milk" sounds like "coke" but try as we might we cannot get you to say it any other way..... you love your paci and tiger to go to sleep..... you are wonderful napper and sleeper..... moved into a big bed a couple months ago and you love your little bed in the boys room..... you haven't had a haircut yet..... it's getting long but still very thin and flyaway...... you have your own look and personality but Grandma and Grandpa say you look ALOT like your Great-Uncle Brendan (Grandpa's older brother).......... you love playing with your brothers and sisters.... you love little A but often are caught being a bit rough ;-)...... you are barefoot all the time these days..... rarely leaving shoes on long..... we love you little man!
